Founded in 1996 by Dr.A.B.Ghosh, the Vivekananda Rural Service Centre
as been making small but effective interventions in rural and urban
areas, towards impacting the quality of life of persons; especially
those from marginalised parts of societies;
with
social, educational and health programmes.
Encouraged by the response to and impact of their interventions, VRSC
intends to broaden the ambit of their work and create projects that have
an
impact on a mass scale.
1.
They have recently
conducted a unique research project on drinking water - JAL GHOSHNA(c), the results of
which prove that water can be boiled efficiently and in less time,
saving both time and energy. This has a mass scale impact.
2.
They are promoting a word game format - Shabdkoshish(c) - designed to
encourage an active interest and discussion in Hindi and other Indian languages, while
improving
spelling and vocabulary.
VRSC plans to introduce this by initiating an
inter-school competition across India.
3.
VRSC also intends to produce films focussed on social, health and
education issues, as well as on subjects promoting and encouraging global unity and
peace.
