As President of the
Association, Dr. Ghosh spearheaded the following initiatives:

Improvement of
roads, electricity connections & water facilities in the locality
-
Creating awareness
regarding sanitation & health issues among residents
-
Planting trees on
the streets in the locality
-
Motivated by Dr. Ghosh's efforts, the
residents of A-M & A-N Blocks, Shalimar Bagh,
New Delhi and the Indian Medical
Association, joined hands to save a 100 trees in their neighbourhood park
from being destroyed and replaced by the construction of an unsolicited
multi-level parking lot, by the MCD. Under Ghosh’s leadership the movement
has gathered force and support, and various activities and interventions,
from children’s painting competitions on issues of environment to filing
public litigations continue to being carried out. Even though the issue has
not been resolved as yet, the motivation, determination and resolve of the
local residents, to ensure the safety of their park and the sanity and
quality of their living environment, remains high.

Recently in August 2008, Dr. Ghosh
organized an effort towards Flood Relief in Bihar. The outcome and support
was astounding and gratifying, and a many crates of blankets, clothes and
dry food were collected and deposited in Bihar Bhavan, New Delhi.

As Director of this NGO,
Dr. Ghosh has done the following:

Ran a free
charitable dispensary for local inhabitants (attendance 25-30 per day).
Basic medicines were available only at the grocer shop until this dispensary
was started.

Personally conducted
public meetings of the local populace to increase awareness of (a) health
(b) sanitation (c) personal hygiene (d) vaccinations and (e) importance of
pre & post natal care
-
Organised annual gynaecological & eye camps to
provide specialist medical care to the people of the locality and remote
villages sround Ramgarh where medical facilities are not available.

Donated 1,000 books
to the local primary school library
-
Distributed prizes &
awards at the Annual Prize Day in the local secondary school
